5 chambers, 5 ribbons cut for Killeen Auto Group milestone

Representatives from five chambers of commerce brought their own “official” ribbon to be cut at a ceremony in front of Killeen Hyundai on Wednesday morning to celebrate the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in Killeen — the giant five-story parking garage erected on their property.

The ribbon-cutting marks a major milestone for Killeen Auto Group as it expands its footprint and deepens its commitment to serving the Central Texas community, according to a release from the Killeen Chamber of Commerce.

Representatives from Belton. Harker Heights, Greater Killeen, Copperas Cove and the Innovation Black chambers of commerce brought gifts to acknowledge the significance of the event.

Josh Smith, a managing partner of the Hyundai dealership, received the items offered. The Belton chamber presented him with a giant pair of scissors with which to cut the ribbons as well as a certificate commemorating the celebration. Ronnie Russell the Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce presented a framed piece of the green ribbon used to welcome other businesses to the IBCC. The Copperas Cove chamber presented a framed dollar bill to represent the first dollar of profit received. Another chamber also gave the business a “first dollar” of profit.

Gillian Pons with the Harker Heights chamber presented a commemorative certificate from the chamber. And, not to be missed, was the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce with Calvin Harvey of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, who presented a framed certificate and a “first dollar of profit.”

Other gifts from the GKCOC included a yellow rose, symbolic for a growing business and a swag bag full of useful items available because of membership.

Killeen Mayor Debbie Nash-King thanked Smith and those responsible for coming together as community partners to create something good for the community.

Together, the mayor and Smith each cut through the ribbons with giant scissors to celebrate the Hyundai dealership.

Then, it was Smith’s turn. He presented a check for $10,000 to the Killeen ISD Education Foundation and another for the same amount to the Association of the U.S. Army-Fort Hood Chapter for community support.

Smith invited everyone to enjoy refreshments and a chance to network with other Killeen businesses and organizations.
